New tank... any suggestions welcome

No, I meant Australian Aquariums - in general, sorry, a bit confusing!

I think my tank has cycled!

I checked the water yesterday and these were the readings:

PH: 8
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10

Is it ready for my axies to move in?

Yep, It sounds good, Casey

Post some pics when you get them in!

Ok!

They're in the tank!

It was so interesting to watch them interact for the first time!

It was a bit of a shock for them at first, and every time they crossed each other's paths they'd both freak out and go flying around the tank.

Martini decided to see how many places she could squeeze through - in between the filter and the wall of the tank, in between the filter output, behind all the plants!

She seems to love her new hiding spots too!

Stella looks much happier and her gills have gone nice and red!

I thought that Martini had reserved the PVC pipe on the right, but I caught Stella moving in too. In the pic - you'll notice Martini has her hand resting on Stella's tail, like she's patting her new friend - so cute!

No bites or nips yet (touch-wood), so I'm very happy!

I'm so excited that they've moved into their new home - I just have to be around to watch the temperature, until I can get a chiller!

Hope you like the pics!

I have a red and green plant like the one you have in the first and second photos. I actually have it in my tank right now too lol. Have had it in the past two weeks or so

Thanks Rheann!

I love that one - it adds colour! Is yours fake too? The only plants I can get are green ones.

Mine is also fake. I like the fake plants because they never die, but I am actually going to try and get my new big tank planted once I get it up and running lol.

I need to get that clay substrate stuff to put underneath my sand so that my plants last a long time. Problem is that stuff is expensive!

Wow,cool! They have heaps of hiding places!Stella is looking good, and I'm glad they are getting along,it's a worry for the first while.I love that bridge too,do they walk over it?

Apryl, they do walk over it! It's so cute - I tried to get a pic of Stella doing it before but she was too quick!

When it was in Stella's old tank, she used to sit on it for ages!

I've found Stella likes to be on top of the hiding spots most of the time and Martini likes to be inside the hiding spots!

Thats pretty cool. I might have to get a bridge just to see them go over it.

Hey guys, I found out I don't need the clay Substrate. It's best not to use it with Axolotls if anyone wants to put some live plants in their tanks
