New little axolotls

No, I do it to. When I was working at the pet store, I'd get some of the reptiles to bite me to show people it didn't really hurt. You shoulda head some of the squeals I got from people watching me get bit by the tiniest little snakes, or even green anoles! My favourite by far though, was when I was scrubbing some algae off of fish tanks. I moved to the next tank in line, which happened to house a pair of pirhana. I just got my hand in side, when a woman who was browsing yanked me out of the tank by the shoulders screaming "Oh my god, what are you doing! Thats a pirhana! It'll eat the flesh off your hand!" I was really pissed at her at first, but then laughed my butt off. After I got over it, I chased the two fish around the tank with my hand, and told about what absolute wussies pirhana are when there aren't a couple hundred of them during breeding season. I don't know what shocked her more: when I put my hand in that tank, or the fact that she was wrong.

I would love to have a piranha. Unfortunately, I would have to move countries.

a few weeks ago one of the buildings and grounds guys was in our lab fixing something and he asked me if the cories were piranhas! i almost (internally) peed my pants laughing!

Just re-reading these posts and this jumped out at me, Brian - "I've been bitten, scratched, whipped, and squeezed"

Lol, ain't you the lucky one!!

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
