Congratulations Cynthia! they are cute. How many axies do you have? Do you have names for them yet? the little leucistic looks like marilyn, my axie, but smaller.

Nice looking axies Cynthia. I like the green one. You were right, the ones I got today have the same sort of stubby legs. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Vanessa - Thanks. With these 3 young ones I have 6, which is enough for me. I wanted a variety of colors. The new ones have no names yet... though for the little leucistic I am thinking "Pea" as in black eyed pea.

Brian - Thanks. The greenish was sent as a bonus. I am glad, I like it too. I am looking forward to see the pictures of yours tomorrow

cool cynthia i have a comet in our backyard pond called black eyed pea, cause its the only one out of twelve who has pure black eyes.

Hi Cynthia,
Are you sure the green one isn't gray or what some people call blue? I think it's kind of blue gray which seems to be a variant of melanoid. It's true color should be more apparent as it puts some size on.
Best
Michael

Hi Michael - It is possible that it could be grey or blue. It looks more green to me at the moment, but I am aware that I do not see shades of blue "normally".

I will post pictures of it has it grows and you all can tell me for sure what its official color turns out to be.

Thanks

awww all so cute! i like the 1st one!he has a small body!hehe!awww i love axies!my babies are growing bigger!they are just over an inch...shouldnt mine have back leg buds by now??? they are 8 weeks old and only have front legs :S .

Claire, is it cold over there? This would delay growth. My larvae took a long time, or so it seemed, before they developed their back legs. If they're healthy and eating, it'll happen.

Well it has been almost a month since I got my new little axolotls from Michael Shrom.

Here are their update pictures, they have all their legs and toes grown back now.

VERY cute little ones! Some day, one day, I'll get more axies (I have 2 now).

your little babies are so cute! I am so Jealous what little darlings! My husbands aunt makes those cloth lizards that are filled with sand and have little beads for eyes. she's really good at it! She makes all sorts of stuff. I'm going to see if she'll make me a huge Axolotl, because she can pretty much make anything as long as it is a salamander, lizard or frog or snake. I think its a business that she has, or just a hobby she does on the side. not sure which.

My daughter wanted me to make stuffed axolotl toys for my grand daughters. If your husbands aunt comes up with one please post us some pictures.

They are so cute. I'm really pleased I've found this forum, I now don't feel quite so alone with my obsession.

Welcome Clare

You will have to post pictures of your axolotls so we can see them.

I'll try and post some photos soon of Aubrey. He's so cute and extremely patient with me, I hand feed him and I still can't get use to the speed at which he takes food from me. Makes me jump everytime. This is such a wonderful site and I've learnt so much, it can only add to his quality of life.

i know, ive had my axies for about 6 months and im still scared of being bitten by them, just because theyre so fast!!!

I've been bitten, scratched, whipped, and squeezed (even envenomated once!) by just about every reptile or amphibian you could name. The little axie bites don't hardle mean anything to me at this point.

i enjoy the little axo bites

when i'm showing off the lab i try to get them to bite me so people will squeal! perhaps that's deviant?

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
