My tank!!! and pookie too! and its changes!

i have siliconed my tank adn i am waiting for it to cure now, only about 5 days left!!!
I cleaned out her tank...yet again!!! what a chore! lol. Well as soon as i move her into her big tank i shoudl not have to change the water as much!
I bought her a buddy coz my mum said "now or never"! so i am changinging more than 50% a day to ensure the ammonia won't get to them as i have been told my ammonia test kit might be faulty.
I will post picks of "spot" ( i am still not 100% sure i want that to be his name) and pookie in their new tank as soon as i get it up and ready!
i had a nifty idea of useing pvc tubes sawed down the length and coated in silicone and placed in gravel/sand instead of useing the logs, this way it blends in more!
Spot has a very prominent cloacal swelling and pookie is fat!!!! My little bhubby cheeks is not so little compared to little spot!
ok im rambling on now! ( as much as any proud mother)
I'll keep u guys posted!!!!

this is a quick pick of my chubs. Do u recon she's filling with eggs? also she is eating worms wel now!!! she's bigger so they don't gross her out as much! And she's good at catching pellets, spot can't catch for peanuts!

and these are the little white wormies that gross me out ( i will buy feeder fish to control these numbers coz they eat them! )

hey teesha, If you can you shud really quarantine Spot for up to 30 days. This is to be on the safe side, so he doesn't pass anything onto Pookie. He may very well be well, but you can never be too sure and don't want Pookie getting ill. If you don't just make sure you keep an eye on them both.

ops!! well since i had really no where to put him it wouldnt have made a difference,....i didnt quarentine him!!! but they are looking A-OK to me!
pookie looks nice a round, not a sphere, but she's plumper than normal. Spot i got skinny, he aint a twig but it has no fullness to him. I a trying to feed them but they dont cooperate!!!! I still havent mastered feeding axolotls!!! he wont eat pellets, she wont eat worms! and her fav food just ran out (meal worms are all beetles atm!!!)
here's a few pix!

considering my tank is already infested with wierd white worms, i didnt really care coz he "appeared" damn more healthy than mine! ( as she is shedding! ) Actually she just finished and her gills are growing back quite nicely. He is 19cm, she is now 21. something cm.

they are eating less...Like she snaps at the worms but she's started nto to eat them again unless they are tiny!!! i find that womrs live in the tank water for a week! this is awesome if theres no gravel, if there is gravel they burry down. In fact i hadnt fed her worms for months when i took the gravel our i found a worm, so they survive foreve i recon! i tried to feed her one today but she spat it out. She loves meal worms, LOVES, i know they are bad for her but it helped her to grow a cm a month, so they must be ok....maybe the exoskeleton is like fibre to use??? no harm infact beneficial???

hair grass eleo(something something) is a true aquatic but you need higher powered lighting than you would normally use. what type of axie is that speckly one in the last picture?

**my pythons name is Pookie too!

MAD!!! our pets are twins! (well the name is anyways! )
"i" think its a wild type with alot os axanthophores (yellow pigment) The pet shop called it "olive" so yeh....
if u look carefully he is in the back bottom (my) left corner of the tank.
ooohhh!!! i'm gunna buy the hair grass- even if it dies anyways!!! - coz i love it, unless you know a similar plant that is good under low light?

that is probably the coolest looking wild-type i've seen, i thought maybe it was a different color type. what kind of lighting do you have? the hairgrass is in my 55 ga with just 2 24 inch flouros (plant spectrum) i think around 60 watts each - its been there for months and the only parts that died were the pieces that got shaded by other plants. it has spread out but not the lush green carpet that i was imagining it to be. i am going to have to double the light to make it really take off. that will have to come some other time snce i just spent most of my money on school books.

the one where the pic was taken is a flourescent bulb....just ur average flourescent bulb. They were in the hospital tank thingy. its like the ones u have on ur roof. The ones that are short but look like 2 bent tubes??
The lighting in my big tank is shoking, the lamp my mother bought me as a gift doesnt take flourescent bulbs!!! argh! so its yellow light. But i open the window on the opposite side of the room every day ( its a glass sliding door which we use every day! ) so yeh it does get natural indirect sunlight every day, so i think this is the only reasons why my ludwigia didnt die.
I desperately need to buy some feed fish as the planaria has laid eggs all over the place!!!! And i need some fish to keep them in check! I think ill get 3 or 4 little china barbs. I hate rosy barbs....they seem too aggressive imo. I have had a good peaceful history of china barbs and they are often only a buck each! I bought some more sand for the tank which i will put in tommorow and post pics.
Spot has bits from the end of his tail missing. Could the other axie be munching on it? or is it the plastic plants cutting into him? it looks like a little mouth chewed it not a bit mouth coz it is very irregular. he seems fine though.

Hi there, she is a lovely axie- her tummy does look a bit like our girl ( who we thought was a boy) just before she laid eggs- totally unexpectedly since she is only about 8-9 months old!! the daddy is the same age and i had noticed swelling in his nether regions but didn't click that it meant that he was a boy and that he was able to procreate!! duh!

I thought i'd update...again!!!
Here is the tank as of yesterday. There was 3 feeder fish and there are bloodworms on the floor. This morning only one feeder fish remained! (baby rosy barbs)

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
