My new tank

I agree that it does look unrealistic but i still like it. These axolotls are captive bred so i doubt they know their natural surroundings.

it doesnt matter if they dont know thier natrual surroundings, i just think that animals should be kept in natural materials, and i also think thats best for them !

(quote)hmm I dont like the tank.. looks so unrealistic to me(quote)

i agree, it has changed a fair bit since them photo's. because it's my first time with an aquarium it's a bit hit and miss at the moment and just have to try different things until i get it how i want it
but with the help of other users on the forum it is now coming along nicely.....

ok just took em, here ya go

i think it's a big improvement on my my first attempt, but spewin i wasted $100au on the other two ornaments i no longer have in there, maybe i can use it as a door stop

hey rob where did u get those wooden tunnels. They look like mine. I got mine from big w or k-mart (dont rally remember) for $15au, how about you?

ye it is a nice imprivment, i like it
happy.gif

Stipe:
got the tunnels from my local pet/aquarium shop $7.95 4 the small and $15.95 lge, they are made of
a resin material and look very real up close

Maja :
i would love real plants, but as i already have 8 plugs connected to one socket via a surge board
i'm not gonna push my luck to connect a light so i can grow real plants and add more heat to my tank
as temps in S.A. can be 40c for a few days in a row during summer...

To be honest the axys probably cann't tell if they are plastic or real, and most of decoration are for aesthetic reasons any way. Its not really natural for them to be placed in a glass box to be stared at either but we do it and they like staring back.

Rob I think your tank looks lovely

Hey Rob, the tank looks great! The other plants brought in more color and hiding places.

It really looks natural now
happy.gif

Awesome. It is a big improvment and I think taht they will love it!!
love.gif

ye the logs look so real from close up as they do from far away. My axies jsut love hiding in it.

thx again for the feed back guys
good to hear it all good or bad
happy.gif

i love ur tanks Jenny and have picked up a couple of ideas from ur pics
happy.gif
hope u dont mind....

nah i would love to but i am all out of plug space for a light... think i'll get a few silk ones instead of the plastic...

I like the silk better myself. They look somewhat realistic, and they're not scratchy on the axolotl's skin.

rob : okay then i understand why u dont have any plants
happy.gif
but i still like real tings.. but i like your tank becus its not filled up with pink and wierd coloured stuf/things thats looks fuc+ed ;)

Jenny : its not the fact that they dont know the diffrence, i know that my axies dont care but I care, i dont like if they eat anything its not a real plant or anything that can be natural decay.
happy.gif
so that is also one of my reasons, and btw real plants looks better i think

Well rob, you could get low-light plants. LIke Amazon sword or other types of swords. Or java moss or fern. Not all plants are high-light.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
