My First Axolotl Tank

Looks very nice!
And good luck with your exams too! :D

This is my favorite tank! Very well done!

Are the fish just in the tank for now to help set up the biological filter?? If not you might want to re think the fish staying in the tank. They could harm the gills of your axie, or just be a quick snack for your axie depending on the size of the axie you get. Otherwise the set-up is really nice, I love the driftwood and the plants, once all the pebbles are gone it's going to be a top rate axolotl environment. My little guy is jealous of you r very nice home for your future friend. You are very smart to have such a nice home set up so far in advance. Your Axie is going to be a very lucky little guy!!!

Thanks guys!!

I actually cycled the tank before adding the minnows. Since i have to wait for the axolotl i got the minnows to keep the tank cycled (Easier than constantly adding an ammonia source). They are going in my pond once i get an Axolotl !

I added some Anacharis from my pond! Its a great easy coldwater plant.

After a little bit of cursing i managed to strip the tank.. remove the substrate.. filter out the stones and but it back together again...

Tis now complete! all i need is an axolotl haha.

The cloudyness will clear in a day.
(I took the top half and bottom half of the tank sperately so the picture might look a little odd)

Golden white cloud mountain minnows :)!

I added lots a willow and Java moss to the tank . I also attached it to the floating airline tubing i use to create light pockets, It should cover them up in a few weeks.

I also added a orchid cutting to the tank... i read they can grow in water if they are rooted in water so i decided to experiment.... Iv seen pictures of them growing in mugs of water.

Moss on airline tubuing...

Its been weeks and weeks and all i can find are albino Axolotls which isnt what i want... I have given up. :(

The tank is now home to a bichir senegalus and a paradise fish. Bichir's are my favourite fish.

I plan on eventually getting a larger tank for these fish so when i do ill go on the lookout for an axolotl again.

See you!!

aww thats a shame i reckon an axolotl would have loved to stay there
