Marbled Newts

Didn't notice it until just now, but I was looking at that last pic and found to my delight that there are 8 instead of 7. One seems to have been thrown in for free!

They're fairly plump, healthy-looking and absolutely gorgeous. Will start them out on crickets but today I also received a fruit fly culture so will try that as well. Hopefully they'll also take to hand-fed bloodworm.

Paris, I read an article today on how live tubifex frequently introduce tapeforms and other parasites. I'm going to rinse my worms better from now on, but don't know if that'd make much of a difference if the tapeworms or eggs are carried INSIDE the tubifex.

Interesting what your vet said about stress-induced illness (though I never noticed any aggressive tendencies among the 3 newts in question). Looked up some info about Batryl and it seems it's available from my local vet. Thanks!

P.S.: John C., suppose you could knock out that double-posted pic for me? And there's another double-posted pic in the latest P.hongkongensis thread...TKS!

Hi I have just got 2 marbled newts they are still very young and to be honest when I brought them I wasn't really told much about them I was wondering if anybody could give me some information about them, at the min I am feeding them size 4 crickets and they are getting quite fat, all I know is how to feed them and what temp to keep them at, so any other info would be great. Thanks

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!
