Habitat: limestone valley in central Carpatian mountains 400 - 600m above the sea with dominating woods of Fagus sp. and Picea sp.

montandoni breeds in small basins located on the stream banks.

Mesotriton alpestris is sympatric with L. montandoni on that place? or prefers bigger points for breeding?

yes it is. They are found together in the same places.

that 5th photo of the pair looks surreal-as if they are floating in air...is that picture of them in water or on land (the log looks mostly dry)...if its in water -how did you get it so clear? if its on land ...weird.......

Yago: now it`s about 10°C during the day.
Paris: they are in water. The log is pretty wet. It dropped to the bottom like a stone. And I didn`t dim the water

beautiful animals, i never noticed how intricate the tail pattern was on the males before, i always pictured them as the dullest of the genera not so sure now!
