Katie's 20g Axolotl Tank

Damn, they look pretty good! I would like to have mine in these conditions, I just clean up my tank, and now I want to buy some natural plants and also some pvc tubes. Congratulations, and keep showing us these axolotls! :)

Thanks carlos!

So today I set up my new EHIEM classic filter. Talk about awful directions.

Anyways, after finally getting it hooked up to the chiller, I decided the flow had to be reduced. I tried using the valves to reduce flow, but that lead to leaks. Frustrated, I tried the simple "aim the spray bar at the back wall" method and it might just be perfect! Anyone have any problems with this simple method?

I transfered the same biological media over, so I should have maintained the cycle, but I'm going to monitor.

The increased flow rate will probably be better for the chiller overall too.

I was trying to figure out if the classics suddenly came out with flow restriction valves, but you probably mean the cutoff ball valves for the quick releases.

If you try to reduce the flow, you may end up damaging the unit. But, if it's leaking, that may be due to an insufficiently snug connection. If it's leaking from the output of the canister, did you take the "nut" off of it? It may not appear that there's a direction/orientation to it, but there is, and putting it on backwards can lead to *very* slow leaks even without significant pressure.

Your axolotls are adorable. I have a male GFP albino. His name is the Doctor.

Aiming it at the back wall has been perfect! No technical reduced flow, and babies don't seem to mind. Daisy actually may like the way it feels coming off the wall haha!

Thanks pnpexotics! Doctor is such a cute name.

Here's another Daisy:

Did you intentionally put the intake and output next to each other, rather than on opposite sides of the tank?

Re: Katie's 20g Axolotl Tank - Now 40B Axolotl tank!

Well it's been a long time! Things have upgraded and changed a bit.

Still using the same equipment, but the sponge filter is now one with more sponge. The tank is a 40B. It's almost time to turn the chiller back on. It's been off all winter.
I acquired a new guy! It's name is Nugget and I don't know the age since I got him from a store. A LFS guy I semi-trust got a bunch from someone who got eggs unprepared for the masses so they were give to him a mess. Nugget was missing a leg and had very little gills. Everything has fully returned. Anyways...

Nug from above

And to the post above, no I didn't put them next to each other for a reason. Should I not have? They've been like that for a while now, but can be changed if really need be.
