The parents look great. It sound like you are going to be up to your eyeballs in babies. Good luck. I hope you share more of your progress along the way. Maybe even sneak a few pictures in of your tanks or setups as they would be great to see also. I'm very curious & you don't learn unless you ask.
-David I am sure if you took a poll from the women on the forum they would not tell you casually they "kicked" a baby out. Might have wanted to kick and scream it out. But your description is funny
, and your babies are just as cute I hope to see more of them as they progress.
4cm seems quite big. I was going to suggest that the female might have some more, but at that size I doubt it. You never know, 83 larva out of my gallaica female seemed impossible.
As for the size of my gallaica, the females are naturally bigger than the males, and have much more girth. I have well fed males that look "skinny" compared to the females though. But I mean less plump, showing no signs of poor fleshing. I would say my adults range from 18-24 cm. You can see photos of them here http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/985/74822.html?1169019011
Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
