Is it possible to distinguish between males and females?

The male has got a more obvious long slit on the bulge, while the bulge of the female tends to be more of a cone shape with much shorter slit. I must admit I'm not the best in distinguishing the genders. I only dare to guess when they're adult and during breeding season.
