International Amphibian Days 2004

Actually their are more shows this time of year. The week end of IAD their is a Reptile show at Pottstown, Pa., Shelbyville, Ky., Chantilly Va, Chicago Il, Tallahassee, Fl., Omaha, Ne, and Pittsburgh, Pa. It would be hard to pick a time with more shows on the same day. March 20th their is a show at Lititz, Pa. and April 24th their is a big show at Hamburg, Pa. In the Pa. /Md. area their are over 20 shows a year under an hour and a half from my home. IAD is the best amphibian one I have been to.

OK, who all is going? I would like to suggest we prearrange some kind of meet-n-greet event for the caudata people there. Possibilities would be:

Late evening Friday (after the dinner)
Breakfast Saturday
Lunch Saturday
Dinner Saturday
Late evening Saturday (after the talks)
Sunday morning

Can folks who have previously attended this event please comment? Having never been before, I don't know which of these is most likely to work out with the schedule.

I just sent my payment to Ken and am in the process of getting the plane ticket.

Hi Jennifer, Not everybody shows up Friday night. Saturday after the lectures might be o.k. but people are pretty worn out by then. Saturday is pretty busy but Saturday sometime during the day might work. We might even be able to get the workshop room and meet their. Sunday is pretty slow early. Bkfast Sunday would be o.k. for me but maybe not for people that want to sleep in. Sunday afternoon people are leaving and attending the auction. The only time that doesn't work for me is Saturday bkfast. and Saturday Dinner.

Hi Jen,
Saturday night the lectures often do not get done until after 11 PM and then there is often an all night or nearly all night talk session afterward (at the last one it went on until 5 AM).
I do not know when my workshop is set so I cannot specifically say when I will be available but should be there the whole weekend.
Ed

I just made the hotel reservation last week.. I won`t be getting there until about 1 or 2 saturday morning.. The only restrictions that I have besides friday is when Ed and Henk are speaking, I am really looking forward to their lectures. Or maybe we can all meet at one of the lectures.. If paris still has the pink mohawk it won`t be hard to find her at a lecture.. ;-)

nah -i probably wont even wear it up. its white blond and ill probably wear a top hat-you can find me easily though cause i almost always wear black.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
