Identifying T.d.d. and T.d. macrosoma

Hi..i´m trying to get a pair or trio of this species, and i´ve been offered only the nominate form. For what i´ve seen through google, the nominate ones seem to be darker with little to no orange/red in the sides, and a more brownish look.
I prefer the brighter form which i take for granted is macrosoma. Both are stunning anyway, but if i had to choose i´d get the ones i think are macrosoma.
The fact is that the dobros i´ve been offered are dobrogicus dobrogicus, but they look like the suposed "macrosoma" in my head. So i´d like t be able to identify them just be sure. I´m getting them anyway cause they look great hehe, but it would be great to know the subspecies. Dobrogicus lovers anywhere....please help me n_n

Thank you Kamil. So i was right? the macrosomus have a redish back and sides?

These are the adults and fathers(at least one of them) of the dobros i just ordered. I think they look alike macrosomus, because the d.d i´ve seen (or so i think myself) weren´t that bright. Anyway i think they are spectacular males and i hope i get a baby that will grow up to be like that.

Wow those are awesome looking, I love the crests!

They look all colorful in yellow. Is that just the lighting or is that the natural color.

So those are the actuals colours of Triturus dobrogicus dobrogicus???? I´m lost with species....so many colour variations.....i won´t know how they really look like until i see mine at home....

Hey Rodrigo.
I'd grab them in a heartbeat too those are amazing looking. Please be sure to post more pictures of them. I would & I am sure others would love to see them as well. Good luck with them.

trust me, as soon as i get my three big morphs i´ll post as many pics you´ll get sick hehe.

I'll never get sick of seeing pictures!

Happy Easter if you celebrate!

Ryan- I have to agree with you on that one
Rodrigo- Bet you can't make me sick of them. Bring them on!

T. t. dobrogicus is more brightly coloured on the belly (especially males) and smaller (less vertebrae) than T. d. macrosomus (see Litvinchuk) but there is some introgression along the Dunai River. The females of macrosomus especially can be very large. Everything outside the Dunai would be macrosomus.

Oh, what a theory ! Linnaeus would kick your <font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font> guys !
