This newly recognized Hynobius species, long confused with H.leechi, is described in Zoological Science, a journal published by the Zoological Society of Japan:

Tim, do you have any update on this? Does it have a name? Has it been officially published?
 
Hi Jen, I can't answer your specific questions immediately but I do in fact have in my possession some more recent information on this. I just hadn't posted it because I didn't detect an incredible amount of interest in the original post above
