Hynobius tokyoensis

Actually, Kamil, I've since made contact with somebody here who is really experienced in raising hynobiids post-morph so I think I'll gather tips from him and give it a try (especially seeing as I have 3 kinds of H. larvae brewing already)

In fact, I'm planning to get a used glass door cooler, the kind soft drinks are stocked in at your local 7-11, for use over the summer months to keep them especially cool like you mentioned.

Here's one six-and-a-half months after hatching:

I still have a couple dozen of these guys. Compared with other kinds of H. morphs I'm raising, they're very secretive, very quick and excitable, and very difficult to hand-feed bloodworm to, though hardy.

Here they are one year on:

I can't tell the difference between H.lichenatus, H.takedai and H.tokyoensis juveniles. Does anybody know how to distinguish them?

Ah, seems those two pics above are of the same individual. Here's a different one for comparison:

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
