quess whos eggs started hatching today well my first egg just hatched im starting the brin shrimp hatchery now lol yay 1 egg has hatched bit late compeard to evryone els but still yay!

Excellent news mate! ...I've still got a few not hatched yet.

I didn't see my little fella's yesterday; but I'll be checking on them tonight (I'll post how they're doing tomorrow).

Make sure you give the BBS a good rinse before putting them in with the hatchlings (lost a batch a year or so ago by not rinsing enough).

Just got some Gold eggs; Bellabelloo kindly sent me - should keep me busy for the next couple of months :)

...keep us posted guys!

Checked on them last night, may have lost a few - but not many; from the ones I seperated there was one "yellowish" coloured hatchling with a black diamond pattern down it's back - striking colours!

Although he is MIA (missing in action) - or he's turning more wild type - will have another look for him tomorrow. All eating well and growing!

I now have 3 hatchlings 2 wild type with amazing pattens on there back and one albino!

Have your Wild Types started to get darker Cizza?

Bellabelloo's golden eggs are developing nicely! No sign of "diamond back"; will have a better look for him this weekend.

Most of the eggs from Colin B have hatched now; some of the later hatchlings seem to be Albino -thinking of seperating a few more this weekend. Any tips on catching the hatchlings without causing too much stress?

I used the trusty turkey baster to suck them up...when bigger they aren't so easy!

Update

Seperated the Colin B hatchlings on Friday - I've got about 15 in total - ones I thought were Albino - look like they could be gold (time will tell).

They are now in Chinese food containers; in groups of four - most are about 1 week old and seem to be eating larger daphnia now.

Bellabelloo's gold eggs are looking well - 90% formed; found the first hatchling swimming around yesterday - expect the others will have hatched by the end of the week. :blob:

Cizza (and anyone else with Colin B's eggs) - how you getting on? Cheers, Phil

all mien have hatched now and eating BBSabout 13 mm long

mine are doing fine with over 50 they are a handfull !! A friend is coming to take half off my hands today (as I dont want to lose any because I have tried to raise too many) and most have homes waiting still havnt got any golden from what I can see just albino though one 'wildtype' is very close I expect the darker colours will spread later (It has a golden head with olive freckles and wildtype stripe down its back at the moment) They are all in a separated part of my tank at the moment eating allthe wormy insecty things that took up residence (they are helping with my mosquito larvae problem now as well!!) and of course bbs.

Sounds like both your Axolotls are growing faster than mine. (I'm probably keeping them too cool). Although, all that hatched are doing well (no deaths yet - touch wood) - eating loads, still on daphnia - but I'm having to top them up more often. Mine are way too small to eat Midge Larave at the mo (even though I've got some waiting for them :).

They are about 18-20mm (gold's look a little smaller - but I think that's partly due to the colour - or lack of colour).

Bellabelloo's eggs have all hatched, need to seperate them and do a head count. Nice mixture of Gold and Wild Type. ...although, one gold hatched way before the others - so he might have to have his own place for a while.

All seem to be feeding well! :D

oops sorry i call them midge but they may well be from some sort of fly yours certainly sound about the same size. :)

They'd eat the really small midge larva, might have a go a catching some tomorrow night.

I've lost one of ColinB's - not sure where it's gone; a wild type :-(

...but, done a head count on Bellabelloo's and there 8 wild types; 11 gold - looks like some of the gold have only just hatched. Some of the wild types are REALLY dark too!

One of the gold hatchlings seems to have one red eye; anyone know if this could be a problem - or is it as it looks, one red eye?

Had a busy week, just thought I'd nip on and post. They doing well, not growing very fast though.

Been feeding them from the pond and tried some bought daphnia - although, most of it died - meaning more water changes.
