I have changed my mind and have decided to get Kweichow crocodile newts. I was wondering how many i could house in a 20 gallon long tank. If anyone has pics of their T. kweichow tank, I would love to see them. I encourage you all to see my new thread in the tree frog section of my amazing Whites tree frog pictures.

I cant seem to find any care sheets for Kweichow crocodile newts. Can someone help me. I want to know if i should house them in a 20 gallon filled with water with turtle docks or a 20 gallon that is spit in two between land and water. Would also like to see some pics of other peoples tank for the Tylototrition species.

Thank you

What is a good tank description.

Checkout the June issue of Reptiles magazine.

I don't get the magazene.

I have mine (a pair) in a 20 gallon long "critter keeper" a plastic terrarium with a screen top. Live plants (ferns, anthurium, orchid, some type of ground cover moss, bromeliad) and a large water dish. Large enough for them to submerge in if they like. One likes to stay in the water dish sometimes but I hardly ever see both in there at the same time. During the day, they stay under the water dish.

Ok. Thank you.

Do you know of any kweichow keepers that i can contact.

Ow wow. Can i see a top view of the tank.

Thanks

This is an older picture from before I got the bigger blue water dish. It does show the screen top and light.

Oh cool. I was going to make a Half land half water 20 gallon tank for 4 kweichows.

That's real cool. Don't they need a large amount of water.

I have heard that they need more water for breeding. Mine don't even go into the water dish all that often. They are largely terrestrial.

Here is a picture of a tank i just built for my new ones.

Its a 20 long.

I keep 7 adult Kweichowensis in a tank 100cm x 50cm x 40cm and there are light, dark, open and hidden places. From November to March they don't have water and since April until today they breed and are together with many larvae,

Re: AW: Re: Housing for T. kweichowensis

Ummi, that looks like a beautiful set up. Would that be something like a 30 gallon tank?

Devalight, 30 gallon = 113 liter
100x50x40cm = 200 liter
