Question: High ammonia

No not mentioned as yet, Im using a 500 L per hour Bio Internal filter, i have a 3ft tank filled about 3/4 of the way. :)

 your doing alright, its easier to do the cycle with the axie in a different tank/container but I also have 5 tanks running with an extra empty one and some extra filter media in each to establish cycles.

do you have any friends with fish/axolotl tanks? see if you can get a piece of biofilter media from them, if their tank is established, and put it in your filter or clean it out in your tank after a water change (will make a little mess but its the good stuff) this will speed things up majorly!

keep that ammonia below 1 ppm and keep testing that water as long as axies are in there!

Unfortunately no here in Aus they're pretty few and far between. But I have purchased some live bacteria to help speed things up

Just curious what brand of live bacteria you got? Because in me experience the big cheapo brands are a big rip off an don't work.

And so it should! I should be studying, instead I'm cleaning, feeding, pooper scooping and testing axolotls

Getting there, ammonia is still quite high considering the changes I'm doing, nitrite has dropped from 1.0 to .50 and nitrate has started to rise :)

Newest update! Nitrate is at 5.00 ppm, ammonia has dropped to .25 ppm (if not lower, it's very feint green)
