Herping Trip- Mar 27-Apr 03, 2010 (Open Invite)

I am off that weekend and plan on hooking up with you guys for at least one day of the event. I'm thinking probably Sunday however I will not know for sure until we get a little closer to the dates.

The more the better! I'll try to gather up some more folks. I think this year is going to be crazy in a good way.
 
It turns out I have to be home on March 31st so it looks like the trip is off for me.
 
I'd be up to meeting up with you all when you hit the NC/TN area. Are you going to be able to post your progress and maybe note a daily meeting place/time?
 
Speaking of which, do you have a rough idea of what your itenerary is going to be? I am going to meet up with you guys for one day but it sounds as if you are going to be all over the place. Also, I think that I mentioned this a while back but if anyone wants to come by my place the invitation is open.

I'm not sure if any internet service will be at the house but I'll do what I can to post what part of the state we'll be heading at least two days before we head there. I will try my best to post a general idea of the schedule before the 27th just in case there isn't any internet there.

As of now Sunday looks like a day we'll be heading towards the VA/NC/TN line area.

Audrey and I have been discussing the idea of getting shirts made for this event which means this things needs a title. I've just been calling it herp week. We would like to know if y'all had any other suggestions. Of course this all depends if we can get them done it time (we have less than 2 weeks). Audrey is trying to pull some strings so hopefully she can work her magic.

Justin, do you have an updated / detailed schedule? I'm trying to decide on what day to drive down. I would very much like to meet up with Russ.
 
I was hoping to connect with everyone on Saturday. I tried calling Justin a couple of times but was only able to reach his voicemail. The weather was really nice here this past Saturday however Sunday was cold and rainy.

I saw a few pictures on Facebook, and got a phone call. Sounds like everyone is having a smashing good time and finding all sorts of critters. Second year in a row I could not make it, but so help me next year I will be there.

Pray for rain, they could use a bit more down there! Come to think of it, I could desperately use some up here.:p

Well, with no meeting points and since I already took the day off I'm going to hit the Mt Mitchell area tomorrow. I'll be in a maroon 4-door Wrangler (GA tags) if anyone is in the area.
 
Russ - I understand what you went through - really, if I hadn't had Justin's phone number _before_ his phone died this week, I would never have met up with everyone either. On top of that, Justin was very busy looking after everyone, as well as being expedition leader and a father/husband, all at once.

I want to thank Justin and his wife Sonya for their incredible hospitality. I saw more new species than I could ever have hoped for and really got to enjoy Virginia. It was good to match more people with names. I also learned a great deal outside of the field work.
 
How far west do you all make it in NC? It was actually a little early for the elevation at Mt Mitchell, a couple more weeks of these temps and a little rain and it should really be good.
