I've tried that but wouldn't let me do it, keeps logging me out for some reason. But was able to put some pictures on my profile if you would like to have a look please. I'm in a soft water area. I live in a small city. Thank you so much for your help

One of your axies looks really stressed.

Please somebody with more experience on water help. But cant soft water be stressful on an axolotl?

Im not sure about daphnia but they dont look like they have much in their tummy. But i feed mine bbs so i guess its harder to tell. My axie bellies get orange :)

Oh no. but might be stressed as I had just moved them to a clean tub when I took the pictures. I'm sure they're eating as they have been swimming after them. Think a trip to the fish shop tomorrow to get some bbs. Hard to tell with their belly as the are a lot darker then yours which I must say are soooooooo cute

If you can afford it id suggest gettig a test kit at least to test ammonia and ph. You never know your tap water could be contaminated(and if that is the case dont drink it) haha.

Thanks. Not all of mine are light colored. Just i have them seperated by size amd the darker ones seem to grow faster

Im not so sure it is the water though. I may be wrong but wouldn't it be affecting my big axolotls? They are fine if any thing since I've had my tyrone the black 1, his gills have stared 2 grow back as he never really had any. I will take some of the water to the fish shop to get it tested tomorrow as they will do it for free. Just been to check on them another has died

Was it the one that looked stressed?
Babies are a lot more sensitive to everything, as are human babies compared to adults. It doesnt take much stress to kill a baby axolotl compared to an adult.
Im doubting its food now for sure seeing how stressed that one looked.

Now i know this is a really stupid question, but are you sure they are dead? I know it sounds stupid but since axolotls have a predatory instinct as babies to not move to not be caught by prey, they pretend they are dead. Mine do all the time it scares the **** out of me. They come around eventually.

It was the little black 1 with the wavey tail in 1 of the picture. I'm pretty sure as some have been floating and no moving at all after watching them for awhile. Before they were put into the tub, the daphnia had started to eat the ones that had died. To be honest baby axolotls are far harder to look after than human babies. ha ha

No i was just comparing how an adult human can handle more them a baby, its the same as a baby axolotl compared to an adult.
Im not finding them all to complicating to take care of. Its baby brine shrimp that are giving me all my problems. Tonight is the second time in two weeks nothing has hatched! I panic in these situations. They lived through it the first time(i shaved frozen bloodworms for them) which they ate. Tonight i just chopped them up and most are attempting to eat it haha. They had food this morning so the
Bloodworms should tie them over till some bbs hatch. Trust me, id just stick with daphnia if you can bbs is just a mess! I normally harvest enough for two-three feedings, then some nights nothing hatchs. I just opened a new container of bbs i hope its not all faulty bbs eggs!

But back to this problem. Because that axie was showing tremedously big signs of stress we should be able to rule out food unless the food is contaminated. You really need to get your water tested. Make sure the people at the pet store do not use test strips they are not accurate and we really need to know the exact water parameters. They will keep dying until you can figure out the underlying cause. Im thinking its ammonia.

Hi thank you for your help the water was not the problem it was the copepods we first fed them we are now down 2 6babys and there looking well so fingers crossed they will be ok  how are ur baby axolotls doing

Mine are doing okay. One of mine has gotten a huge air bubble in his tummy. I seperated him and trying to feed him. Hes been like this for 3days no eating i dont think hellmake it unless he burps the bubble out. Never know though. Other them that i have 30healthy ones :p

Thats good news. They're doing well apart from 1 we went to see the ones we gave to the fish shop yesterday they are really big compared 2 the ones we kept lol

Haha sometimes its the temperature that they are kept at that makes them grow faster, how much and and often and what they are fed etc.
im glad you finally figured out why they were dying. Hopefully the rest grow big and strong.
