So I was removing my females from my tank to give to a friend and I noticed 2 baby guppy fry, so I got out the females and babies (separately). The babies are in a jar with sand and live plants, will they need a bubbler or will they be okay? also what do they eat? I have no idea how to care for fish fry.. please help!!

I know you can feed them baby brine shrimp. I’d move them to a breeder tank or something where they are separated.

Yes they are separated, they were in a 2 gallon so it’s too small to attach a breeder tank ): can I feed them frozen brine shrimp? that’s all I have ):

It’s weird that you are having this issue. My 5 gallon guppy tank had two girls and two boys. I know now I should have had all girls and one boy but at any rate I put the pregnant girl into a breeder box because she looked ready and when I looked this morning there were only two fry and some eggs that weren’t ready. I gave them crushed up flakes that I turned into powder and ordered a bribe shrimp hatchery.

My females now belong to my friend. I put the babies in a 1 gallon by themselves with a filter (I put a thin sock around it for current and so they don’t get sucked into it). I gave them some fish food and frozen brine shrimp. will they be okay do you think? I also didn’t see any eggs I just happened to be giving my females away and saw them during the process of getting them out of the tank.

You can take some regular fish flakes and finely grind it to a powder using the back of a spoon in a dish or a mortar and pestle if you have one. You can also boil an egg, take a TINY piece of the egg yolk, dissolve it in water and add a few drops in the tank for food.

Frozen brine shrimp are too big for baby guppies, so if you feed them try breaking them up by smashing them with the back of a spoon.

You can also buy baby fish food at most pet stores. It's basically powered fish flakes.

You only have two babies, so be careful not to feed too much. Feed small amounts a few times a day. Change some of the water (never all of it at once) often. Clean water helps babies grow bigger and faster. I've changed baby fish tank water every 2-3 days before.

Guppies are livebearers, so there are no eggs. The babies form inside the mother and are born fully formed.

Good luck!
