Question: Got my tank finally set up-ish! What am I missing? (Lots of questions)

I assume the warning lable was trying to say it wasnt suitable as say...builders sand.
It will most likely be fine in your tank, just wash wash and wash again as it is messy stuff.
Once its in your tank it will take a couple of days to settle down and stop being cloudy

I would advise not to put it in more than 1" deep as this starts to created toxic gas pockets and you will have to stir you sand quite often to stop the build up.

I only have around 1/2" myself and dont get any gas pockets

Right on, that's all I needed to know :3 I'm not using anywhere near the full bag for either tank, I'll be using some in my 10 gallon and putting what's left over in my 55 gallon.
