Fuzhongensis breeding

Well, my fuzhongs have been breeding over the past few days. My male seems to be gradually honing his courting technique, when I first saw him tail faning he was just fanning off into the water with no apparent purpose. Now he pursues the female still without much success, but each day his attempts seem slightly less futile then the last. It seems as though Fuzhongs take a slightly different approach to courting than cynops. My male Fuzhong slowly approaches the female from the side tail fanning as he walks and once she tries to swim away he slips in front of her, while my cynops orientalis always sniffs the cloaca before swimming in front of the female and tail fanning. My male Fuzhong also seems as though he makes judgements on how effective a courting attempt will be before he starts. For example, if he is in a densely planted region of the tank he will at first approach the female but swim away as he notices all the obstacles he would have to manuver in order to court her, in a more open part of the tank he will immediately start to court her. He also seems to wait in ambush in the more open part of the tank for her to pass through. Has anyone else notice behaviors like this? Here are some photos of them, I intend to follow these ones up with better ones when my camera recharges:

Here's the male

Here he is tail fanning the wrong end of the female!

Here he is approaching the female. tail fanning as he goes.

And here's one of his more successful attempts.

No, no eggs yet, at least none that I've found. They're in a fairly large tank, about 30" long 14" wide 18" tall (these estimates are just of the top of my head I'll probably be able to measure it tomorrow).

They really like laying in Vallisineria (spelling?), laying a row of a few eggs between strands of the plant. It might be an idea to add a few plants, if you haven't got them, for egg deposition.

Here are some more pics, the figures I gave before for the tank size have been confirmed.

Wow, some serious flirting going on in that tank, Benjamin! We might have to consider giving this thread an "R" rating, or at least "PG-13." Other moderators?

By the way, do you have photo editing software? Those nice pictures could become even nicer by brightening them up. I use ACD-See as I never could figure out how to use PhotoShop
