They remind me so much of tadpoles in appearance at this stage/

Day 21 (6)

Its now day 21 since the eggs were laid and day 6 since the first ones hatched.
226 have now hatched and 12 are still to hatch.

I have separated them into different tubs and now my table has been taken over by plastic tubs, 15 of them.

Re: Follow the eggs - (2nd Batch)

Now the hard part begins, will be a stressful few weeks now keeping the 200+ mouths fed.
Out of the 244 eggs I kept, 4 never developed from the initial laying stage, 1 died mid way through its growth around day 9 and 1 died after it hatched.

Will be a nightmare keeping the bbs factory going, the bubbling will make it hard to sleep.

Day 23 (8)

7 of the final 12 have hatched, but there is one still to hatch and its being so stuborn. Unfortunately 4 were unable to get out of the thick jelly and died trying.
Out of the 244 eggs that I have kept, 238 have hatched.
Well it should be 238 but when I was syringing out the tubs of poo earlier I sucked up one little hatchling killing it, poor little thing.

Day 25 (10)

The final one has hatched earlier today so they all are hatched now. Unfortunately two have died overnight but was to be expected at some point.
Its hard to tell if they are growing in size but think they are. It is a struggle to have constant BBS on the go, have had some failures but it seems to be ok now, as soon as some is ready I start on the next batch and takes about 16 hours to do.

Re: Day 25 (10)

doing well, so many little eyes, maybe one day i will try something like you are but the 10 hatchlings i am raising is enough for me. still got one to hatch. they get quicker at moving each day, Have been watching your posts as your hatchlings are 6 days older than mine so a great guide,,

Day 26 (11)

Its hard to see with the eye if they are eating properly but it can be clearly seen on the photos, with their orange stomachs

How DO hatchling Axolots move

How DO hatchling Axolots move

To best describe how they swim and move about as they have no fins to navigate like a fish. Imagine yourself with arms tied tightly behind your back so they cant move, then the same with your legs so no movement except at your hips.

Now if someone threw you in a swimming pool the only thing you can move is your legs at hips, so thats how they move about, laying on stomach and jerking your hips (tail) to move.

Day 28 (13)

I have just give them a good clean today and taken some better quality pics

Re: Day 33 (18)

alright dingodoo, so jealous of your pics, what camera or device have you been using, every pic i take i look at and think just not as good as yours, although my eyes tell me that my hatchlings are all doing well by comparing to yours. Are you still keeping the triplets and how are they, or have they been lost in the general population?
