FYI: Follow the eggs and hatchlings (2nd Batch)

Here is a thread following the eggs since they were layed on 26th November 2011 by my own little 8 month old female.
This is her first lay of eggs so lets follow the development of them., there are approx 350 eggs.

Day 0

Day 1

The eggs are now one day old and still are small balls with no change except the jelly substance they are coated in is getting thicker and stronger.

Day 2

The eggs are two days old now and there is s slight change, the eggs have changed color slighly they look more grey than they were when layed.

Day 3

The eggs are now three days old and the inner jelly covering is more obvious now. It is a small round clear jelly covering. It looks like a contact lens covering an eye. This inner coating protects the eggs and where the larve will form. The outer jelly coating which looks like a marble is still much thicker/stronger than it was and getting a bit darker in color.

Day 4

This is day forur of the eggs and you can clearly see the change in the eggs, some look like a builders bum where you can see the crack where the egg is splitting and some eggs are turning into the shape of a bean they are no longer round.

Woww congratulations on the new axolotl eggs the pictures are amazing! i hope you keep adding them everyday its amazing seeing them change!:wacko::wacko:, i have a male wildtype and a leucistic female bout 9 months old the females bellys huge off eggs but he just wont mate with her well lay his sperm on the sand i can wait for mine to breed ive got loads of family and friends who want some and my local pet shop, Good luck with the babies when they hatch! i wish you lived closer two me cause i would buy some of you

Day 4 - Late PM

The eggs have changed a lot since I took pics of them this morning, so here is the pics at just before midnight on day 4.

Day 5

I unfortunately said goodbye to most of the eggs today, have sent them to Exotic Pets - Amphibian, Reptile and Invert UK exotic pet shop in chesterfield. It was just too many to look after. I have kept around 150 eggs and here are their pics. As you can see the eggs are growing nicely and you can clearly see the development of them.

Day 6

The eggs doing good, most look like small beans now.

I like it. Is that a triplet on one of those pictures? I see a lot of twins too.

yes there is 12 sets of twins and also a triplet too which I will take special care of.

Day 7

The eggs are now a week old and doing well, at least 90% of them are now in the shape of small beans now, but a few still are slow in developing. On the bottom picture you can make out thye gills forming on a few of them.

Day 9

There has not really been much change since yesterday, some have fully uncurled now. The most change is that they have started jerking about with sudden movements within their egg sack.

Loving this thread, have not breed before and I look forward to doing it one day. So for now its really cool to see your little ones develop! I look forward to the next pics!

9 months old is way too young to consider letting the female breed. She should be at least 12, preferrably 18 months old. Trust me, it's for her own good.
