I've had this species for a number of years now but 1 of 1st Tigers has always perplexed me and given me constant cause for concern with its eating/burrowing. Before I go on ill state that I have tried everything just about. Getting up early, going to bed late watching for it to emerge to eat. I've misted or watered tank heavily to stimulate it to emerge nothing works. What my question is how often should I dig him/her up to feed? This salamander will stay burrowed for months without coming up. The last time I waited what felt like several months before excavating it's enclosure for it and it had lost alot of tail fat in that time I noticed when I finally recovered it. Now once I've brought this particular salamander to the surface it will normally remain out and about and normally in the water section for several days to weeks eating anything it's offered. In hindsight I believe this particular salamander may be a wild caught animal that was sold to me thru pet store because my other tiger that I have is much much more interactive & I also grilled the seller about whether or not it was wild or captive bred. I do realize every animal has its own unique personality too. I just for the past few years have always wondered if I'm doing right thing by digging up to eat or how long should I wait before digging it up. I've asked this question many times to different groups and even on here but never get any answers that are helpful. Everything recommended to try I stated in 1st half of my comment/question and all have not worked
