Exodus of experienced keepers on the board?

I'm a kid, but my life revolves around herps, I swear! No one but me in my school thinks that they are the greatest things ever! I'm guessing about 99% of my school would be "Axo-whatl?" if they asked me about my pets. I wouldn't refer to myself as a knowledgeable Memeber , however I do know a thing or two about Axies. I have notices that the Advanced Section barely ever ( if at all) has the green circle to show there's a new post.

I agree with Jake. I am 14 and I don't even own a video game system, all I have is a iPod, I don't even have a phone.

I herp every day if I can, and spend probably half my day outdoors. You really should not underestimate kids, like many users seem to. We still know how to do things, and se don't like it when adults disregard us just because of our age. So please stop treating us kids like we know nothing, and try to remember that you were a kid once too, so when you disregard kids you also disregard your own childhood. A time of learning, and the foundation of your life. -Seth

It´s precisely because we can remember being 14 that we know how much attitudes, knowledge and the hability to synthesize information can change from the time one is 14 to the time when one is an adult and beyond. But yeah, age itself is not an accurate way to discriminate between knowledgeable and not knowledgeable individuals. That said, generally it tends to be a fairly decent indicator (but not a diagnostic characteristic), but it should never be used as an excuse to disregard anyone. There are some kids who know quite a lot more about a given subject than many adults. It´s not the norm, but it of course, happens.

Personally i look at who i was when i joined the forums (i was 21 or 22 i think, so not a kid, legally xD) and i barely recognize myself.

As for the topic of this thread, part of it is that people can´t always keep their hobbies forever, some people are forced to move, give it away for medical reasons, or whatever and therefore stop being active once they are not "in" the hobby anymore. Some are simply too bussy to spend time in forums. Others just leave because they are burned out, or bored or dwelling in despair.

Exactly. The 'kids' of today are the experts of tomorrow. And anyone who knows a teenager will know that once an obsession gets hold of them they will pursue it until they know EVERYTHING there is to know on the subject.

Come back in a few years and see who is giving out the good advice - it will be the kids who have just joined up and are asking the questions today.

Of course and we should foment this very strongly. However, we should not pretend that the kids of today are necessarily there yet xD Or that the "amateurs" of today are right now the "experts" of tomorrow, for that matter, whatever their age.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
