Enclosure design Assignment

Thanks for comments.
It was only a random suggestion like a herbivore turtle.
I really like Tylos and think a exhibit would be great with them and their striking colours.

However after getting some feedback from lecturer have to think of dwell times and putting a interesting spin in case animals off show.

Thanks again for everyone's help.
Josh i would never heard of Tylos if it hadn't seen them at college and their striking colours. Plus the reason why I had to get some T.shanjing.

This is a general question what would people expect from such a exhibit? For example, signage, interaction.

Well for members of the public (obviously most or a majority of them will not really have more than basic knowledge of animals, maybe some with less knowledge). So you will need on the signs:

  • Name (Common and Nomenclature)
  • COO (Country of origin) also make sure there are maps with coloured parts on the maps to show where abouts it is.
  • Feeding Habits, have technical terms and basic terminology, such as"Omnivorous: eats both Vegetation and Meat items. They will eat in the wild things such as blah blah blah"
  • Habitat Type: Tropical Rainforests, Temperate, Montane Forest, Arid Woodlands, Deserts etc etc.
  • Conservation Status
  • Reason behind the Endangered status.
  • Interesting facts, This is a huge one as its all well and fine having the above things but you need something that will make they say "Oh wow, thats amazing I didn't know they could do this".
  • Possible breeding programmes
  • Current breeding programmes
Keep it short but sweet though, you dont want to make people completely bored halfway through each sign.

While since posted on this still designing it and looking for hypothetical quotes. Looking at using some technology in the design.

Found some collections in uk display tylo successfully due to the animal clumsiness.

Still working away on this assignment and thanks again for everyone's help and answers. Still drawing and researching hopefully half way through.

I have a question about funding this is totally hypothetical but we are given a small budget for the assignment. But we're allowed to suggest ideas to increase budget. I was thinking hypothetically speaking if a fun raiser was done at an amphibian show how many people do you think would donate for such an idea. Hypothetically speaking.

Final drawing design.
The exhibit hypothetically is a immersion exhibit attached to a large mammal species. Give the illusion of a expedititon through South-East Asia.

Just thought should put this assignment has been handed in just waiting on grade now. Thanks for everyone's help.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
