Hi,

yesterday I found the first (amphibian) eggs of my herp year 2010 in the outdoor kept tank of Tr.alpestris apuanus. Picture: P1040451web on Flickr - Photo Sharing! . It is easily to see the round egg in the oval egg cover.
Interestingly most of the eggs were place in dense algae fathoms (see picture). This is a perfect camuoflage as the eggs look like gas bubbles in the algae.

Temperatures at egg placement 8°C at day. Night freezing with ice cover in the aqaurium.

Hope for development.

Uwe

Short update:

Eggs are developing perfectly.

In opposite to the regular Tr.alpestris these animals really prefer the algae as substrate for their eggs. This is probably the "plants" they find in their natural habitat, if any.
