East Coast Zoological

Is that near West Warwick RI close to rte 95? (just planning my road trip)

Exit 6 off Route 95. Take a left at the exit, drive by MacDonald's and Stop N' Shop. They are on the corner on the left at the light after Stop N' Shop.

It's before West Warwick if you're coming from NY.

Thanks, Nicole.
So I've gotten my Rough Point tickets, my mapquest directions, and my motel reservation. And I still have over a month to go!

Another way you can go is to take exit 6A, a left off the ramp, go straight down Hopkins Hill Road until you come to an intersection. A gas station will be on your right, Jiffy Lube on the left and the pet store across the street on the left corner.

This might be the easiest way to find it. Either way will get you there.

No I was to busy. I might head up there once they get some more sals (especially the mudpuppies) be sure to let me know if they ever get them.

Well, I made it out there! East Coast Zoological had a few animals and a really cool albino corn snake, but only one caudate, a fire salamander. Not a lot of stock, though. On my way into Newport, however, I found two other pet stores, not chains, and much bigger inside than they appear. Both had LOTS of fish. In the second one I found a folding top for my new 48" tank; I didn't even think they made them that big!
I did notice that caimans seem to be very popular in Rhode Island. I made such good time, I revisited the Roger Williams Park Zoo, which is having a lot of work done. One of the buildings with herps was closed. I saw some cool snakes, though. The rest of the visit had nothing to do with animals, so I'll spare you all the details.

Your second picture (the one of Aquidneck Pet Deli) is probably my favorite pet store in RI. Im glad you got to come up here! The third picture of the pet store is not the greatest store, they have mean staff and bad animal conditions.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
