Duckweed.

I actually was trying to grow duckweed in my tank, but most of it actually died!!
Not sure why, I've got an LED light and little fish for now, but I've got masses of dead white duckweed at the bottom of my tank now. UGH. How do I clean it all up??

Syphon?

I find that when I had Duckweed in my smaller tank it was a pain, if i needed to stick my hand in it would just come out green! That's why I don't have it now.

Well Ive got a 40gal breeder, and I know axies don't like that much light, so I figured they would be good for the water chemistry, and for shade.

Huh, not sure why yours is dying... Mine is doing alright. And even the dead/brown stuff still floats?

I put some in my Betta tank too, and they love it. Jake is right though, I stick my hand in my lotl tank and my arm comes out covered in duckweed XD

Ok, so I recently got giant duckweed, and I love the stuff! Sure, when you stick your hand in the tank, it's a b____ to remove... but if you keep a jug of water handy, you can quickly rinse it off. I found this thread because I was doing a search to see if it was ok for axies to eat it.
My golden pretty much all day has been perching atop the java moss covered driftwood, looking upward and waiting for duckweed to get pushed under the surface by the hob filter current. It is so fascinating and adorable! He does snap up an occasional duckweed, and seems to be perfectly fine.
I have had frogbit in a different tank before, but found that the long roots would get caught in the filter. It eventually succumbed to some type of surface insect. It looked nice while it lasted though.
