Do you get the "Eeeew" reaction?

My parents think I'm completely bonkers.
My mother calls Albus (my axie) an "Axodotlelotl", while my father calls him an Ocelot.
Apparently "axolotl" doesn't stick with them.
My roommate /adore/ him though.

Sometimes I forget that most people don't share our opinions of cuteness. XD haha. Last week, my friends came over and I haven't seen them in months, so...

I was like "my newts had BABIES!!! wanna see?? :D :D :D" I was sooo excited!

But, their response was O_O "No. NO. Absolutely not."

i was making a shopping list before leaving work once and a coworker wanted a peek at at. one of the items was crickets and the look on their face was a definite EEEWWW. explained i kept amphibs, showed them some pics explained care required and the enjoyment i get from observing them just like beautiful boxer she has as a desktop wallpaper.

i have a dog too i think alot of people who go EEEEwww think herps are slimy, scaly, ugly, and without emotion or character like their furry pets.

My roommate actually started screaming when I came home with my first axie, hehe. She thought it was too horrid to be real.Luckily she came around, and actually looked after her all the time if I was away.

But most people have just been very curious about what they are, and ask lots of questions :)

When I went away my sister looked after my creatures. She was fine with the fish, etc.
She kindly looked after the 'lotls.. but wasn't so sure about them, after Tenedor 'attacked' her, while showing her how to tend/feed them. I said DON'T put your finger on her nose, but what does she do?
Let's say the whole street probably knew about it.

She eyes of Tenedor everytime she's over now.

Oh, and she refused to tend to my live food cultures - so I took them with me. 9hr drive with two dogs and little brother in the back seat, with the cultures... funnnn. :dizzy:

Well I got my first real ewwww. Was showing my coworker a picture of my newt who is regrowing a leg and the toes are developing (i find it wickedly cool) and he had a very dramatic ewwww and couldn't look at it.

Guess I'm a girl with strange hobbies.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
