There's always brown slimy gunk floating around or settled at the bottom of her tank (the stuff between the glass and the coconut). I had some pothos in there for a while that were rotting (I didn't know the leaves weren't supposed to be submerged) and I thought that may be the issue. Removing it and replacing it with some fresh anubias and Java moss/fern helped some but there's still quite a bit of the slime. She eats whole worms and I never leave uneaten food in there. Parameters are good and she's a healthy girl but idk why there's so much gunk. Any ideas as to what it could be and how to mitigate it? It’s annoying to clean and also a layer of it builds up over the filter and I don’t want that to interfere with the filtration

One solution (easy) could be to move the coconut away from the glass to leave enough space for the animal to walk around it.
Water would also circulate better.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
