Deci!

yes all the bloodworms are there because she needs to fatten up a bit.

The axolotl and the setup look great Jordan, except for one thing. The edge of the tank hangs over the edge of the table.

A full 20-gallon tank weights 225 pounds. All of that weight is being held in place by glass plates. If it's not distributed properly, there is a risk of breakage.

O trust me, my step-dad is a carpenter and he reinforced this table specifically for this tank. Thanks for the concern though.

Jordan: She's a beautiful colour! Clever choice of name, i like it

Thank you Hailz. I have a question to ask everone though, what does your axies poo look like? I ask this because my axies poo looks like diarrhea. I know that sounds gross, but i don't know why it looks like that. Any help would be appreciated because i don't knwo what to do with it.

Usually Axolotl Poo looks like little footballs, but sometimes it is very messy. I think messiness is either a sign of stress, or it could also just be that the poo breaks down in the water before you get a chance to see it in the football shape. I guess another way to describe it is looking like Little Pine Tree Seeds or snail shells.

Jordan, Jennifer's concern is not over the STAND being able to hold the tank up, but the tank being able to contain the water without the weight being evenly distributed. A tank must sit on a level surface so the weight of the water is distributed equally to the bottom. If it's not, you risk cracking the tank and losing 20 gallons of water on the floor, and a homeless (or worse!) axolotl.

ok, i understand now, we made sure it was level before we filled it. Do you know what i should do with the poo?

Jordan, Joan's comments are correct. Further, my concern is NOT about the tank being level. The concern is that the END of the tank, which is important for support of the tank structure itself, has no support under it.

ok once again, thanks for the concern, but thats not what i was posting to ask.

So should i leave the poo or suck it up with something? And if so, what?

Jordan, what do you do with your poo? Flush it. Axolotls don't want to swim around in their poo either. Get a turkey baster and use it to suck up poo.

Regardless of the question you posted, Jennifer's concerns are VERY valid (if anyone's ever cracked a tank, they know what I mean), and I think your blowing her off like that was very rude. We are expressing concern over your axolotl, and you should be grateful that people are explaining these things to you.

Jordan - I think most of us on the forum use turkey basters. I used to use one, but however now I have my huge 60 gallon tank and I can't reach the bottom! lol, so I'll have to use my battery operated tank cleaner to do it when it comes time to put my Axies in and clean their waste.

Turkey Basters can be purchased at dollar stores or in the baking/cooking section of grocery stores and also good Ol' Wal-Mart. They're pretty cheap anywhere.

Just to emphasise for you Jordan, I can tell you from experience that your tank is in danger of cracking if not shattering. I have experienced this years ago with a fish tank I was setting up thankfully the tank was empty of fish. Mine was hanging over like yours and went without any warning. It is no easy job cleaning up the glass and water let alone dealing with an injured axie.

ok like i said before thanks for the concern everyone. It's not like i was rude because i said thanks for the concern. Thank you rheann for answering my question.

Jordan, I use a turkey baster too, but sometimes I miss bits and usually my filter sucks it up, no problem.

I have emailed you about the other stuff.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
