Hey everyone! I’m new here and have two 3 month old axies! I have some questions about some general things because I want to make sure they have the best care I can give.

The first thing is I’ve been feeding them each a half cube of bloodworms a day and I don’t know if that’s the best amount of food. Just today one of them pooped 2 maybe 3 times and so I wonder if I’m over feeding them. So let me know what you guys think.

The reason I know only one of them pooped that much is because I have him in a tub. About a week ago I fed him some brine shrimp for the first time and both of them only really eat when they see my tweezers. So he didn’t eat very much because it was hard for me to grab them with the tweezers. So I left one of them overnight about 8 hours in a tub with a little bit of brine shrimp to encourage him to eat it on his own without the tweezers. And the next morning all his toes were dark. I’ve read this can be from maturing but they are both still young and it showed up overnight so I’m worried it’s something else. It was tank cleaning day so I cleaned it and then put him back in right away to fix any water quality problem if that was the issue. Now it’s been a while and he still has dark toes but now there’s a few spots on the bottom of his hands. It hasn’t spread to the other axie at all or into his hands more besides a few spots on the bottom. I don’t know if it’s bad though because he eats fine still and doesn’t have a curled tail or forward gills or any other signs of stress I know if. But I decided to tub him and change the water daily to see if his dark toes go away and noticed his 2-3 poops today. So any insight would be helpful. My tank is 63 degrees F and even before the tank change the ammonia was 0 as well as after.

young/juvenile axolotls require plenty of food as they are growing, unless the torso becomes wider then the head (as in over weight not as in having been fed a large meal recently) then do not worry about over feeding.
due to the feet getting dark areas over night this can be due to treading in fecal matter (skin staining) or a skin bacterial infection.
