Cynops larvae (abnormal coloration)

Tim, I hadn't noticed your post about it dying. That's pretty rough

. I know what it's like - my orange verrucosus died after metamorphosis and I had high hopes for it

. I have a chance of breeding one again though (son to daughter). I'll let you know how that goes.
 
So how's your brown C.p.sasayamae doing, Paul?

John, good thing is that one of the larvae that were in the same tank has developed similar coloration! Have a look:

The one in the pic in the last post has morphed!

I guess it's bit odd that it has more spots on the bottom part of its dorsum than the top.
 
Ohh it doesn't look as colorful anymore, maybe it will lose its abnormal colour completely as it gets older.

It developed well, went on land and got a normal black colour. No difference to the others after metamorphosis.
