Crazy Test Results

I wouldn't return animals until it stays balanced for a few days - given your nitrite is now high again I would remove him so not to cause discomfort or skin burns.

Ok, will do

Hey, so I want to thank you all for helping me, I have been doing 20% clean outs daily and the tank looks better and parameters look better. Ammonia is being converted and Nitrates are rising, here they are
Nitrite-.25ppm
Nitrate-2.5ppm
PH-6.6
Ammonia-2.0
All animals are in containers that are being emptied daily. Got lots of live plants

Is that a dead worm in the bottom of section 3 pic?

The worm was alive and never eaten and removed. Sorry I forgot to retake the picture.

There is something very not right with those results!

What is in the tank producing the ammonia? There has to be something!

Check to see if plants are hiding something or are they rotting down & breaking up?

This is really odd

I have checked every nook and cranny, behind the wood, under plants. Do you think it could be the new filter?

i dont know if im reading it right or not but i think my results are pretty similar to yours?

And at first my PH was paler than the 6.0 on the chart, but ive added some crushed shell and its risen to 6.8 now

I want this tank to cycle really bad, I have a ton (10-20) live plants coming so I will have those. It had been running for close to a month and a half. Here are the most recent results

One thing I will let you know is if your pH drops and it looks like it already has it can actually disrupt the cycling process. Ammonia gets converted to Ammonium around a pH of 6.0. Ammonium cannot be used by bacterial colonies to convert to Nitrite thus disturbing the conversion to Nitrate. I would suggest trying to raise your pH up to at least 6.5 and keep it stable to allow the cycle to continue.

It was a high range ammonia test. The color was not as good in the pics. But PH was about 7.4-7.8

Today's results
Ammonia-1.0ppm
Nitrite-1.0ppm
Nitrate-20ppm
PH- High range turned purple instantly so I it clearly off the charts
Is it starting to work? I am getting a k1 media filter in a couple days and a TON of live plants as well

Ammonia- 1.0ppm
Nitrite- .50ppm
Nitrate- 5.0ppm
PH- 7.5 (in between)

Here's what I did today. I took 2 5g buckets to a local Petstore my friend owns. He filled them both with water from some of his 30+ cycled freshwater aquariums. I emptied 10g from my aquarium and put that water in. I beleive this has solved my problem and the k1 media filter and the 15 or so plants I will be getting should keep it good. What do you think?

I think you'd be better taking some filter media from him or some gravel to put into a stocking to add the beneficial bacteria to your filter & tank. Test the water you get from him to see what it's parameters are in comparison to yours. Water tends to carry some bacteria but it's mostly wastes..

Not sure it'll be the solution - but I do hope it helps :)
