Could a have moss in an axy tank...if so what type?

I saw them and the lake they are found in (they are found in other places) when I was in Japan. I bought some souvenir pieces in a colored liquid but I'm pretty sure they are dead or preserved. When I found these on the internet... I was pretty happy about it and surprised!
