I have a male and female Chilean Helmeted Water Toads and I am struggling to find care instructions....mainly temparture of water....heater or no heater?

I'd look into their native range temperatures yearly.

I've heard anecdotally that they experience cold water temperatures and begin to experience stress and die off at higher water temperatures. Think temperature ranges of 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

I too am the proud owner of a male and female. The male took 5 weeks to start eating, but they both are. I have them at room temp 69f and the male is calling. Hey are also the same size so I assume the male is older.
I’m mostly curious as to what size they need to be to breed. Also if size the same, can they be housed together?
Anything else it would be useful for me to know? Not much info on these..

The Frog Ranch have the best information, very rare to see these in the UK, females very much larger than males, dinner date not an option.
Possibly 80 is tolerated but not well, always cooler is recommended. Hope to see some locally now I have better info. D

To be fair, I don’t know their sexes but they have different bodytypes and one calls. They sell them currently from at least one vendor. Given they have thousands of tadpoles and take up to 2 years to turn into a frog, I’m sure there are lots more to come. Mine are eating better now and coming out of the water. Maybe because it’s in the low 60s right now.
