Casa de Miguel

Hi everyone, thanks for all your nice comments!

In answer to some of your questions:

Laura & Reann, I used a Samsung Digimax 300 - 3.2 mega pixels. My Fiance got in in Melbourne when she was over there a couple of years ago. I can't remember what she paid at the time but from a quick trawl of the web it looks like you can get them for about $325 Oz Dollars, which is about $237 US or £136 UK.

As Joan says if you're using a flash try and point it at an angle where possible. Probably you'd get the best results with the light on in the tank (which they're not overly keen on!) and using a high shutter speed on your camera and using a macro lens if you've got lots of money! Taking photos through glass is generally a bit of a nightmare though!

Jenny, the Juwel filters do put out quite a bit of current but I've angled the output tube straight down onto a plant/rocks and that defuses it considerably, most of the tank is practically still.

Finally some more pics of Miguel or should that be Miguela?!

I love this pic but I had the camera on the wrong setting so it's not as clear as the others, it's such a heroic pose!!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
