Question: Can you feed baby axolotls sea monkeys?

Ive googled it, but i never get a straight answer >_< Can you feed Baby axolotls sea monkeys? ive ready they're just like BBS but i dont want to try and end up killing them all =X If so , can anyone tell me how long i have to feed them before i can switch to blood worms? ( I know the basic things of breeding. just unsure about this )

Hi there. Sea monkeys = BBS. They're identical.

Generally you need to have them on BBS till they start growing their back legs. That's when their sense of smell develops and they are able to hunt!

I don't recommend you use sea monkeys because they have been modified and treated with different things and just because of the simple fact that you dont know what chemicals they have used to make them "unique"

I think you will find brine shrimp is cheaper than the 'sea monkeys'.

Yeah i see where your coming from, but everyone i see that has cultured bbs makes it look so difficult >_< im not the smartest person around, and idk sea monkeys, u just pour them in water and wait XD

sea monkeys = brine shrimp
Just buy the things labeled brine shrimp because they are much cheaper. The reason why "sea monkey" brine shrimp hatch faster is because they are decapsulated. You can have regular brine shrimp hatch just as fast if you get them decapsulated or you can decapsulate yourself.

I wouldn't listen to the hoopla the company posts on their site XD I have "sea monkeys" (I wanted to feed them to my triops that never hatched) and they are just big brine shrimp. The site also says somewhere you can teach them tricks...um...no..no you can't haha

You'd have a hard time using real Sea Monkeys to feed your babies as you'll get a whole 20 of them from a little Sea Monkey packet.
So definitely find some BBS eggs on eBay and go that route.

BBS need to be hatched differently than Sea Monkeys (cause what makes them so 'amazing' is that you "just add water!")
You will need some extra supplies, but I would say it shouldn't cost more than about $20.

If you don't have any live food to feed your babies until then you might have some luck feeding them boiled egg yolk.

If you plan to try this though it's best to take them out of whatever tank you have them in and put them in a small container than you can easily remove them from and clean when you're finished as the egg yolk will quickly start to gather bacteria which will foul the water.
