I thought about making a couple threads, but I decided to just put them all up together.
First, you can see I have a family of mimes.
Here is the underside of...maybe I should make people guess?

And I couldn't resist another because look how cute that little frown is, and so distinct!

Next, this is my Noto community tank. I recently cleaned all the gravel out (if anyone
remembers my leech problem). I cleaned out both my tanks,
and I found no more leeches. But I had very vivid dreams about leeches that night!
On the upper left is a ledge with an inverted clay pot bottom the newts sometimes hide in.
When they're in there I say they're worshipping at "The Temple of the Big Hand."

You can see Slimy (paddletail) in the lower left hand corner.
Finally, the Chow Line. Look at that oinker in the lead! His mouth looks swollen while he's slurping up
his spaghetti, and the others are waiting for their turn at the buffet!

And little Greeneroo, looking adorably cute.

It took a few seconds but I realized the first guy was a spotted newt. They look great Dawn!

It's a Neurergus strauchii (if that's what you meant).

The first newt looks a little skinny. Great pics any way!

Sorry I'm still learning scientific names of insects. (Natada nasoni, Actias luna, Antherea polyphemus)-all species of moths. I haven't gotten to newts yet. I forgot its common name so I just thought spotted newt.

Hhehe you're doing good with those names, lets try Hemileuca griffini, Hemileuca electra mojavensis, and Rothschildia tucumani. Hehehhe Good luck with those names. Are you a member of WlSS Cameron? Sorry this is way off topic but this got my attention

Dawn can you provide more pictures of that newt from the top?

Oh thats right I forgot, they look fine.

Dawn, do you have any other pictures of your PaddleTail? I find them interesting newts.

No, Ryan but I am good friends with Dr. Wagner from the University of Conneticutt. Did you buy his new book Caterpillars of Eastern North America? I've been practicing those scientific names and then I'll start with frogs, beetles, and maybe then newts.

I didn't mean Dr. Wagner (I don't even know who he is) WLSS is the Worlds Largest Saturniid Site. The only scientific names for caudates I have down are the sirens (dwarfs, lesser, and greater), Necturus, amphiunas, and some newts. Oh and cryobranchids.

Yeah he is a great guy I have ordered from him, all right lets get back on topic though

, anyway I can't wait to see those pictures Dawn!

Thanks for that Dawn.

I chose Slimy as my username name because I love Plethodon glutinosus. It is used in the name of my site. And it is my username for a lot of sites I visit including photobucket.

I use necturus for a lot too! I might be getting a N. cf species beyeri off of kingnsnake soon!

OK, I started a new thread so go look at it.
I called it "SlimySaysHiToSlimy."
Kids collect newts in buckets. Here's a bucket of newts! This kind of bucket is much better on the newts.

Cute little buggars! Where did ou fin these jewels?

Ryan, we are all aware you plan on buying a N. cf species beyeri, you have mentioned it in at least three posts. Stop repeating this please! Not meaning to be rude-but it is getting a little bit redundant.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound redundant, I just got a little excited, thats all. Now I don't think I will even be getting one, long story. I hate it when people do the same thing (I just don't say anything rude) so I'm sorry I did it.

Kara I am glad to see some one else call this species Necturus cf. species beyeri.

I got the strauchis and the marbled newts from M. Shrom at the Hamburg PA USA expo.

Well, you do have to admire Ryan's enthusiasm. Hey Ryan, aren't you afraid if you don't buy it already, someone else might?

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
