After two weeks. Till today three have left the water.

Hi,

the first 10 (or so) cb 2015 are at land now. Not sure how many larvae I have, I've lost a bit the overview... Somehow between 50 and 70 I guess.
I haven't not really news to say, but a few pics to show.

Cute little buggers. The efts will sometimes walk around on trails in broad daylight here, I see the adults active in the water during day, too.

Lovely pics! Its a shame cb Notops are still so rare. I have a friend that used to breed them here in the UK. He sold his group of adults on a while ago, but bitterly regrets it now as it seems impossible to find any in good health.

Great news! I have a love for both the genus of North American newts, so this is great news!

AW: Breeding N. v. v.

Last night the first larvae of this year has left the water. It is hatched on february the 1st. So it took three and a half month till morphing. As you can see it lacks the red spots. And it is very orange and bigger than other morphed larvae, I guess it is ~3 cm. To compare I have added a pic of a freshly morphed larva from the last year.

This is my second cb Notophthalmus without red spots, the last larva of the last year has also no red spots.

I love your pictures! I have about 35 larvae right now and maybe 30 more eggs that will hatch. I have always loved red efts, used to catch them as a kid. I am so so excited for them to morph, and looking at this thread has gotten me even more excited! I was interested to know what you feed the larvae and the newly morphed efts? I've been feeding live daphnia I've cultured while waiting on my brine shrimp to hatch. But I'm unsure for the efts. Hoping to get a springtails culture started from soil and leaf litter I got from the same place I got my wc parents. But I see you have had great results so I want to know your secrets.

Sorry, I have overseen your question, but I have answered in your thread...

A few days ago the second f2-larva left the water. A few will follow but not much. 10 or so.
