Thanks for this information, it seems the potential threat from sphagnum moss is mostly in its acidity I mixed it and do not expect that it did much to change the over all acidity. Since it also contains carcinogens I will cease to use it, however, I am doubtful on its impact on this particular species. Studies that showed it was harmful involved Plethodon cinereus. My Barred Tigers have been in a very acidic environment for the last eight years and I have not had any fatalities. In fact it was always my assumption that they did better in an acid environment since it is anti-fungal. Still I have not considered how PH might play a role in breeding readiness, so thanks for bringing this to my attention.
