Borat n Mango

It's best to wait until it clears. It shouldn't be too long. Have you cleaned the filter?

hmm... still gotta wait... i reckon it'll clear up in 2 days, getting worried about my axies.... poor thing living in a pale :(

yeah, i clear my filter once a day... alot of sand enters it...
squeeze both sponge in the tank, rinse all the sand in the filter in the tank, correct??
my filter is facing the glass side of the tank as the flow is quite strong.... n it tends to make a hole near it... quite annoying

i'll get a pic n upload it soon... give some suggestions

Good news about the sand clearing. :) I think your axies should be fine in their pale as long as you keep up with daily water changes...

Hmm a strong filter will tend to stress your axolotls. Can you use a spray bar to reduce the current's flow?

By squeezing the sponge IN the tank, you're not actually removing the sand that's getting filtered out. Take a bowl/bucket of water out of the tank, and use that to rinse your sand out of your filter.

yeah, i know it'll stress them out... but they haven't been showing any stress sign before(when my tank was with gravel)

my filter doesn't include a spray bar... so i basically gotta custom it in the future... :(

Spray bars are pretty easy to build. Some PVC pipe, a drill, and voila!

ahh, i thought i was suppose to squeeze the sponge IN the tank to maintain the bacteria n stuff...

so i remove the filter, rinse it in a bucket of water from the tank n throw the water out?
whats the different with rinsing via tap water? isn't it also cleaning the sponge?

by the way, i did a ph test n when i fill up my test tube, the water is crystal clear....
thats why i thought it was a good time to moving my axies in =)
pretty hard to differentiate the ph color at 6.4, 6.8, 7.0
always hesitating to put the "ph up" powder in

No. You want to rinse the sponge in tank water, in order to not kill the bacteria, but not IN the tank (defeats the purpose of rinsing the sponge). You can also rinse it in a bucket of treated, aged water. But usually it's easier to just scoop a bowl of water out of the tank for rinsing.

As far as pH, don't use the pH adjusters. They work in the short run, but in the long run, your tank will probably return to it's normal pH, where you'll have to adjust it again. This pH rollercoaster is more stressful than a sub-optimal pH. If you really want to raise your pH, using limestone or bird grit (in a stocking) will raise your pH slowly, and buffer against changes.

lol... that makes sense... but then if i keep taking water out of the tank.... i soon gotta fill it up again
do i fill it up with tap water or i gotta age it??

thanks to the bloody pet shop, blablabla, get this ph up powder... it will help maintain the ph of the tank... sigh =(

Aged water is just water that's been treated to remove chlorine compounds. I prepare mine in 5 gallon buckets.

The pet shop, they just want to make money off you.

my axies are not eating now... i tried wiggling the food in front of them... but they get stress(curl up their tail)

i was wondering should i put them in the tank a.s.a.p??? i still can't see the bottom of the tank from the top

You need to keep things consistent I think. Swapping them around a lot will cause problems and it's probably better wait til your tank clears.

With the pale, check the temperature and the water parameters to make sure they are ok. Make sure there is no strong light around and/or a lot of noise. Have you been doing water changes? Try to keep the temperature the same for the water change. Your axies are probably still getting used to their environment and may be fussy in the mean time. I know when I got my axolotl he acted stressed for a few days until he got used to the new tank. Now he is thriving so hang in there.

Try some food again later on and see how they go.

omg, he really **** out a big piece of gravel... took him so long to get it out.... was so suffering when he tries to push it out... =(

13 little neons for food/fun

decided to get a few fish because my axies are boring... only sit there all day long, just to make them catch the fish n move around. cheapest fish i manage to find in the market.

ate 8 neon in 1 day :lick:

You're going to need more hiding spots than that.

And axolotls aren't really made to chase fish (there's a reason they just sit around all day). Fish can harbor diseases which can be passed on to your axolotls. Unless you breed your own disease-free fish, I wouldn't just chuck in pet shop finds.

yeah... i also thought of that... but ever since i made a spray bar, they just hang out at that spot all day long, rarely go back to their hiding place.
before i had a spray bar, the place where the gold axies is sitting now used to b a hole there(water flow made a hole in the sand)
