Does anyone have blue spotted salamanders? Do they make good pets? And Spotted salamanders? Which species is more active and visable. Which species is more friendly?

Thank you for your help.

I keep Spotted salamanders, which by nature are very shy and skiddish. Blue-spotted sals make great pets and are very friendly. They may hide, but can be quite active and may even beg for food and/or hand feed from forceps.

By the way, this isn't exactly the proper section of the forum for this type of question. The newt and salamander help section would've been more appropriate.

IMO, yes, they do. However, they are very shy and tend to only be active at night (they are skiddish in captivity). As I have seen your earlier posts, I think you are better off keeping the newly morphed blue-spotteds that you have already. They are much friendlier.

How about tigers or fire salamanders? Or eastern newts?

What is the best for beginners?

fire salamander
tiger salamander
blue spotted salamander
spotted salamander
eastern newt
fire belly newt

I agree with Nathan. Blue-spotted salamanders are akin to mini-tigers. They're outgoing, feed easily, and are just plain cute. Spotteds, however, are very shy, and make pretty bad 'pets'.

Any of the species you listed CAN make good starter herps. It depends on what you're going for, whether you want a terrestrial or aquatic setup, whether you want an animal that is outgoing and interactive, etc.

I am looking for an outgoing and interactive species. Which of these species are interactive?

By interactive do you mean sals you can handle? Caudates in general should not be handled often because you can damage their skin.
