Based on your photo and the info about the pleco, I would lean towards these being injuries and keep them under close observation. It sounds like they are improving so that's good news. I would continue with the tea baths to help soothe them.
You want to watch for changes like the affected areas developing a fluffy white growth. This is fungus and will need to be treated with salt baths. Don't do the salt baths unless you see this and you can always post more pics if you are not sure.
