hi all! i am sorry about frequently posting but i need to fatten up my baby newt he is incredibly skiny and im not sure if he will make it:errr:.Any ideas to fatten him up:confused:

Feed it. Larval newts need tiny, live food.

That is indeed very skinny.. maybe feeding it with waxmoth larvae will do the trick. They are a fatty food that can be used in these situations. I don't know the actual size of the juvenile, but I think waxmoth larvae are a good size for the fella

:errr: i haven't got any shops that sell wax worms but will meal worms work?:confused:

No. Mealworms have strong jaws and a chitinous exoskeleton that is hard to digest. Earthworms, bloodworms, blackworms, crickets, fruit flies, etc., all make good food.

Any food that the little one eats will contribute to its constitution, although some are better than others. As for mealworms: cut of the head and maybe cut it into pieces. But every kind of food Kaysie suggested would be way better than mealworms, so try to get some of it!

Has the little one eaten lately? Do you have any food available apart from mealworms? Waxmoth larvae would be a real good food to gain some weight and almost every newt to my experience takes it. They might be available via internet-shipping, have you tried to find any online-shops?

What have you tried feeding it, and how/where is the food presented? Has it eaten anything recently?

I have a lot of diffrent foods like frozen blood worms ,meal worms ,frozen daphnia and some times if i can find them earth worms. Also he has eaten some blood worms when the bigger ones did not realise the food was there and he kept on eating untill he wasn't hungry. It might be because the big ones are bullying him:eek:.I also have been searching the internet for a food store and i found a prety good one it is called http://www.livefoodsbypost.co.uk

If you think the other ones are annoying him or something, then remove the skinny one from the tank and isolate him.
