Bad pic....

Yes,
caudos are more skittish to begin with, but females in particular will start to beg for food if the patience is taken to hand feed.
I have not yet tried anubias - what is the best way to grow it in an aquarium?
Be careful mixing fuzhongs with caudos, in my experience they don't like each other very much...
Also, what are those red rock things? they look really cool! How do you manage to keep the water parameters correct? Whenever I use bare bottom aquariums, the water goes crazy...
Good luck with them! Keep looking for females - they are pretty obvious when healthy next to healthy males.

Yeah, this caudo was injured in the mouth when I got it - I have handfeed it with "smooth" food since I got it(mainly beef heart). It has gotten much more healthy since.

Anubias is one of the best plants for newts - they grow very slowly, need very little nutrition and light.

The rock is my rock of preference, Red lava rock.
The good thing about this rock is that it is inert and has a very rough surface allowing numerous colonies of bacteria making the water quality more stable.

Normally I would add loads of plants to a tank like this but I am going to try to see if I can avoid algae anyway. I do frequent water changes.

Yeah well, I am just going to keep them together for a while - the caudo has gotta get a partner.
The tank is big enough for the caudo to hang around by himself - most of the time he does, but sometimes they all come together for a cuddle. This almost always happens on top of the tallest Lava rock, yesterday I found all 5 on top of eachother there - lol.

The worst thing about the lava rock is that it crumbles when you carry it around too much. It is quite expensive too(they are heavy...). The ones I have weigh 10 kg together.

About anubias, use a fishing line or something to put them on a piece of wood - they will adhere to it after a while. The thing is that anubias don't mix with algae, their leafs survive a couple of years - so they are not exactly expendable - algae will grow onto the leafs but they can be washed off if you spot what is happening in time.
Anubias should be placed in low light or shade to avoid algae growth.

Btw I handfeed both the fuzzies and the caudo, they don't beg yet though.

I can't seem to post pics or long messages anymore! I had to dived my last post in two parts

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!
