Baby's

Charles, here's another photo of a brine shrimp hatchery:

The basic idea is simply that you need to bubble air (very gently) from the bottom of the container. There are various ways to rig it up. The easiest, actually, is to have the tubing come in at the top into a piece of rigid aquarium tubing that stays nicely in place at the bottom. I hope that made sense!

hey leslie, hows the little ones? can you tell any colours yet! I am surprised with mine I have some albinos!?!?!

they're doing fine thanks! i think i have white and wild types. How are your little babies doing?

There all doing great.

Can anyone tell me if it is normal for them to have red bellies? It is inside them but it is red red not brine shrime oranges. difficult to describe?!lol

yeah its normal i think, its just their organs and bits and pieces, i think it fades as they get older and get stronger colour

Freaked me out the first time I raised babies. You can see right through them! The liver, optic nerve, brain, heart, they're all quite visible. It's very cool, and slightly disturbing. Seethrough animals just kind of freak me out.

wow that brings me back! im so glad im way way past doing the whole brine shrimp thing. i think mine are 5 months old now and i cant wait to get rid of them! lol, but im going to miss them so much when they are gone. it is the most amazing experience to raise them, but there's alot of time, effort and money to put into it. especially time. i think i was spending 2 hours a dsay cleaning and feeding them for about the first few months. but it is worth it.
ive now got 30 left from 110 eggs that hatched. its so sad that so many die so easily. watch out for fungus when they get a bit older though that was the biggest problem i had with them it probably wiped out half.
anyway sorry if i scared you with all that. good luck with everything in the future!
